Thank you to everyone who came out to our first meeting on Saturday, November 26th at the Maui Humane Society! We had a great group of young people join us that day, and it was exciting to see all of them! Many mahalos to Executive Director Jerleen Bryant and Director of Development Nancy Willis at Maui Humane Society for hosting us.
We were able to hear presentations from three wonderful Maui non-profits, nominated by our members. Zander Wagstaff and Riley Regan nominated Imua Family Services, and they both spoke about how Imua helps our community. Hayley Hedani nominated Feed My Sheep, and she and Executive Director Joyce Kawakami shared about how they provide food for people on Maui. Luke Bendon nominated Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center and he and Executive Director Monique Yamashita spoke about the services they offer to our homeless families.
In the end, our members voted to have Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center receive their collective donations. Our 34 members in attendance gave $10 each, for a total of $340. Amanda Prouty of Minit Medical in Kahului matched that donation to bring the total to $680. And after the event, we received two more member donations of $20, bringing the grand total to $700 for Ka Hale A Ke Ola!

Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped at the meeting – Mandy Grace, Kristi, Luke & Jack Bendon, Lucas Garland, Molly & Sara Oberg, Chelsea Hill & Tess Moretti-Hill. If you helped, and we missed your name, please let us know so we can acknowledge you!
Special thanks to Melita Charan and Dayna Garland for starting this group with me, and being a wonderful support team!
